Mike and Katy were married at a place very special to them: Camp Kon-O-Kwee! This amazing camp is where the couple attended as kids, worked as counselors, started dating, and got engaged! Just read this adorable story from the couple:
“Camp has always held a special place in our hearts. When looking back at old photos we discovered that we had camped together when we were 11 years old. Little did we know that 15 years later we would be getting married in the same place that has held so much fun and excitement for us each summer. In 2011 we truly met for the first time as summer camp counselors. We both had a passion for camp that brought us back each year. In 2013 we became village directors of our respective age groups. It was this summer that our friendship blossomed into a romance. After a summer of denying that we “weren’t dating” we decided to get a bite together. When we went to meet up by the car we realized that we had on matching outfits down to the exact same shade of blue shirt. Looking back this must’ve been a sign of just how compatible we would be. About a month later we officially started dating. Camp is also where Mike made his grand proposal at the end of last summer. At the end of each two week session a candlelight ceremony is held where the campers reflect on their time at camp. Camp alumni were invited back for the last candlelight ceremony of the summer. I was asked to present the closing prayer of the night. When I finished the prayer I turned around to find Mike had snuck up behind me. He got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone.”
How awesome is that?? Knowing how important this venue is to Mike and Katy made the day even more special. So many parts of their wedding were handmade and personal. Katy took a calligraphy course and designed all of the signs at the wedding. The hoops hanging above the altar were handmade by Katy and her mom, as well as the table decorations. Everything was so beautiful! More than anything, the wedding was made special by the personalities of the couple, their families, and their bridal party. Mike and Katy were so sweet and laid back, and they truly seemed to enjoy their day! We had so much fun going around to different camp spots, like the famous blue bridge, and row of pine trees. Enjoy this special wedding!
