We knew Abbie and Frankie’s wedding was going to be amazing before we even got out of the car. As we pulled up to Abbie’s uncle’s house where we were going to be shooting the guys getting ready, her uncle came out in the rain to invite us in to a picnic lunch. After trying (and failing ☺) to refuse, we finally gave up and made a plate of food – a first for us on a wedding day! This is the kindness this family showed us all day. It wasn’t the day they had hoped for, with the remnants of a hurricane bringing driving rain at what was supposed to be an outdoor ceremony. But we all know that’s not what makes a wedding amazing anyway. It’s the couple and the family, their interactions, the memories that are made that makes it amazing, and that’s exactly what this wedding had in abundance.
The rain let up for just long enough to take the guys outside for a few group portraits before we headed off to Bramblewood where we were meeting the girls. We soon learned that Abbie had started her day needing three stitches in her finger after cutting herself wrapping Frankie’s wedding present – poor girl! Though disappointed, she and her girls made the best of it! The getting ready room at Bramblewood is BEAUTIFUL and has a front porch that made the perfect covered spot for some detail shots and portraits with all the bridal party.
Bramblewood is an incredible venue for an outdoor ceremony but also has a killer backup plan. The barn was turned into a stunning ceremony space and decorated to perfection with flowers from the amazing Holly Hanna Floral. As Abbie came down the aisle she couldn’t have looked more perfect and Frankie’s reaction was what every bride hopes for – complete amazement. Abbie’s uncle officiated the wedding, adding one more personal touch to their wedding day, and soon they were man and wife!
After the ceremony we headed back to the covered porch of the bridal cottage for family formal portraits. Abbie and Frankie were such good sports and allowed us to drag them out into the rain for a few portraits as well – some of our very favorite of the whole day! The reception was back in the barn where guests were seated at long farm tables decorated with candles, golden place settings and romantic floral arrangements. Abbie and Frankie had thought of everything. There were glow sticks for dancing, flip-flops for tired feet, and even special dog treat favors for all the furry friends who couldn’t make the wedding – how adorable is that!?!? (Check out photos of their dogs and the rest of their engagement session here!)
We wish you guys all the best for many, many happy years! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day!!
